SculpSure® vs CoolSculpting®:
Choosing the Right Body Contouring Procedure for You
Our clinic is one of two in Calgary that offers both CoolSculpting and SculpSure fat removal treatments.
We offer both so that:
- Our clinicians and physicians can tailor your treatment program so that it is exactly right for you.
- You have options.
- We can use both procedures to get the best results when we think it’s a good idea to do so.
Some people may not be good candidates for CoolSculpting but great candidates for SculpSure, and vice versa. For example, some people don’t have enough fat to be a good candidate for CoolSculpting but, because the SculpSure applicators can treat a very small area, they are eligible for SculpSure.
What’s the Difference Between the Two Procedures?
The main difference is that SculpSure uses heat to kill fat cells while CoolSculpting uses cold. Which treatment is chosen depends on your unique needs.
How Much Does SculpSure Cost Compared to CoolSculpting?
The price is comparable. Both CoolSculpting pricing and SculpSure pricing depend on your unique situation.
What Do SculpSure and CoolSculpting Treatments Feel Like?
SculpSure treatments are hot, not usually uncomfortable, but there can be periods of intense heat. Cooling is used to help protect the skin but there can be sensations like tingling, prickling, cramping, and squeezing.
CoolSculpting treatments initially feel cold but as the area numbs the discomfort should go away. They can also produce sensations like tingling, prickling, cramping, and squeezing, and the massage after treatment can be a little uncomfortable.
How Long Do the Procedures Take?
SculpSure procedures last for 25 minutes. CoolSculpting treatments take from 35 to 40 minutes. You may need more than one procedure to achieve your goals.
How Long Does it Take to See Results with CoolSculpting Compared to SculpSure?
After a SculpSure treatment, you may see results as early as six weeks, with optimal results at 12 weeks. After a CoolSculpting treatment, you may start to see results as early as three weeks. Most people will experience the most dramatic results between one and three months.
How Much Fat is Lost With CoolSculpting / SculpSure?
About the same amount. Clinical studies show that CoolSculpting clears about 25 percent of fat in one treatment while SculpSure clears up to 24 percent. Average SculpSure results are lower, which is why two treatments are usually recommended.
What Are the Side Effects of CoolSculpting Vs. SculpSure?
Side effects for either treatment are typically minor and include redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness. In rare cases, there may be more significant side effects. Side effects typically last just a few days, and there is usually little downtime for either procedure.
Can Both Treatments be Used at Once?
Yes they can! CoolSculpting and SculpSure can be combined and performed at the same time. Your physician and clinician will decide if this is right for you.
Is SculpSure Better Than CoolSculpting (or Vice Versa)?
It depends on your body and your goals. Sometimes one procedure is going to be better than the other; sometimes the choice is up to you because either treatment will be expected to work well.
How Do I Decide Which Body Contouring Technology to Use?
The decision on whether to use CoolSculpting, SculpSure, or both is up to your physician and clinician. Working with you, they will decide what technology to use when to help you achieve your goals for your body.
A custom treatment plan will be prepared for you. It will detail what’s going to happen when and the cost of your procedures. Once you receive your treatment plan, you will have all the information you need to move forward with getting your body looking the way you want it to look.
