Latisse® Side Effects
LATISSE® side effects are often an itching sensation in the eyes and eye redness.
These LATISSE® side effects were reported by approximately 4% of patients in clinical trials. Other less common side effects when trying to grow longer eyelashes with this product typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE® is applied, or in the eyes.
Side Effects Include:
- Eyelid skin darkening
- Eye irritation
- Dryness of the eyes
- Redness on the eyelids
Eyelid skin darkening is a result of increased melanin in the skin. Your eyelid skin may look a little darker close to where the solution is applied. This is expected to reverse after several weeks to months if you decide to stop using the product.
There is the potential for hair growth to occur in areas where LATISSE® solution comes in repeated contact with the skin surface.
LATISSE® is an ophthalmic solution. If any solution gets into the eye, it is not expected to cause harm. You do not need to rinse your eyes.
- If you’re using LATISSE® solution and you develop a new ocular condition or reaction (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, or need to have eye surgery, be sure to talk to your doctor immediately concerning the continued use of LATISSE®.
- LATISSE® solution is intended for use on the skin of the upper eyelid margins at the base of the eyelashes. DO NOT APPLY to the lower eyelid. If you are using other products in the same class for elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), or if you have a history of abnormal IOP, you should only use LATISSE® under the close supervision of your physician.
- LATISSE® is not an eye drop. DO NOT APPLY in your eye or to the lower lid.
LATISSE® is a registered tradement of Allergan Inc.
