How Does Latisse Work?

Lattise is a daily treatment applied to the base of your upper eyelashes for 16 weeks as instructed by your doctor. It’s not just an enhancement. It really makes your eyelashes longer and thicker.

Latisse is believed to grow longer eyelashes in two ways: by increasing the length of the growth phase and by increasing the number of hairs you grow.

What to Expect

Because Latisse works from the inside out, changes in length happen first. Gradually, you’ll notice you have thicker eyelashes.

Results are gradual, with more length happening in as few as 4 weeks and maximum growth after 16 weeks. For best results, you should apply Latisse each night, and follow the directions. If you stop using Latisse, your eyelashes will return to their previous appearance over weeks or months. Don’t be tempted to stop early, even if you’re satisfied with your long thick lashes. After week 16, you’ll see the full effects.

Latisse® Side Effects

  • Eyelid skin darkening
  • Eye irritation
  • Dryness of the eyes
  • Redness on the eyelids

LATISSE® side effects are often an itching sensation in the eyes and eye redness.

These LATISSE® side effects were reported by approximately 4% of patients in clinical trials. Other less common side effects when trying to grow longer eyelashes with this product typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE® is applied, or in the eyes.

Eyelid skin darkening is a result of increased melanin in the skin. Your eyelid skin may look a little darker close to where the solution is applied. This is expected to reverse after several weeks to months if you decide to stop using the product.

There is the potential for hair growth to occur in areas where LATISSE® solution comes in repeated contact with the skin surface.

LATISSE® is an ophthalmic solution. If any solution gets into the eye, it is not expected to cause harm. You do not need to rinse your eyes.

Other Precautions

  • If you’re using LATISSE® solution and you develop a new ocular condition or reaction (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, or need to have eye surgery, be sure to talk to your doctor immediately concerning the continued use of LATISSE®.
  • LATISSE® solution is intended for use on the skin of the upper eyelid margins at the base of the eyelashes. DO NOT APPLY to the lower eyelid. If you are using other products in the same class for elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), or if you have a history of abnormal IOP, you should only use LATISSE® under the close supervision of your physician.
  • LATISSE® is not an eye drop. DO NOT APPLY in your eye or to the lower lid.
