How Microneedling Works
The procedure uses a device with multiple needles that penetrate the skin’s surface. These tiny holes cause a micro injury to the skin, which stimulates collagen and elastin production and aids the skin’s ability to regenerate and renew. This approach also leads to rapid healing and minimal downtime.
Microneedling is often used with various topical serums or medical-grade skincare products, such as hyaluronic acid, as it allows up to 80% more absorption. As a result, the skin appears visibly refreshed and revitalized.
What to Expect
Multiple treatments are required. The number of treatments depends on the skin areas treated and what you are trying to achieve. On average, 8-12 monthly treatments are required.
Treatments typically take about an hour and your skin will appear flushed with a red hue. Swelling may occur. These symptoms can last a few days post treatment and some flaking of the skin may occur a few days later.
In most patients, very few signs of the procedure are visible within a week. Improvement in overall skin appearance will reach peak effect in 4-6 months after treatment, when collagen and skin remodelling is complete.
